Kevin Schmidt
Co-Founder
As a fourth generation public servant to California, Kevin has a multidimensional background in statewide policy and politics and has gained the institutional knowledge needed to navigate the complex political landscape of this state.
Kevin began his public service career in the California State Senate, where he worked for the Senate Majority Leader on a broad array of topics including agriculture, water, and energy. He provided support for oversight and investigative hearings involving complex policy issues, which he now helps his clients navigate.
Prior to Axiom Advisors, Kevin spent three years at California Strategies, where he focused on renewable energy and environmental projects.
Before joining California Strategies, Kevin spent five years serving as Policy Director for then Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, focusing on energy, natural resources, economic development, higher education, and other policy issues. Kevin also represented Lt. Governor Newsom on the California Coastal Commission, the California State Lands Commission, and the Ocean Protection Council where he was responsible for strategic guidance on statewide policies and budgets.
A native Californian, Kevin earned a Bachelors of Science degree in business management from Santa Clara University, and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.
Kevin is based in the firm’s Sacramento office.
